07-08 LMT CKI Beginning!

Hey guys!

I am definitely looking forward to a great Circle K year, and I hope you are too!

Remember SERVICE is our main goal. Let's strive to help as many people as we can in this coming year and perform as much service as we are able.

Let's get A LOT of interclubs. If we all work together, we can achieve more. Also, don't forget to involve Kiwanis and Key Clubs. We are a K-Family! :)

As far as membership goes, we need to retain all the members we have. PLUS, every current member needs to invite and get at least ONE member to join. If everyone did that, our district would double in size. Imagine how much service could be accomplished. Imagine how much fellowship and fun we would have!

If anyone would like to help build new clubs, let someone on the board know! We need all the help and support we can get. LTG's will be selecting someone from their division to help especially with this. Join these committees and help our district's potential blossom into amazing reality!

That's all for now, but CONGRATS to the new 07-08 district board:
Secretary-Treasurer Gavin Robert
Bulletin Editor Roxie James
Bayou South LTG Amy Usner
Delta Central LTG Krystle Holliday
Gulf Coast LTG Justin Quarles
Piney Hills LTG Jennifer Kaup

Be sure to apply for the 07-08 district cabinet. If you need an application, let me know!

More to come soon..

Update

CROSS-POSTED ON THE LMT KIWANIS BULLETIN BOARD

The Circle K Board is safe and sound. Governor Jenny and LTG Princess are back home in North Carolina. IT Courtney is in Denver. LTG Dorothy and I are here on campus at LSU. Dorothy's family is staying in Port Allen as their home was flooded. I dont know if it is repairable. My home in Kenner did get some flooding (about 2-3ft) my family is currently safe in Memphis. LTG Ivana and family are safe but have lost some in Mobile. She is returning to campus at Millsaps next week. LTG Phylisca is fine in Natchitoches. We have heard from many of our members in the area and they are all safe (IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND HAVE NOT LET US KNOW YOU ARE OK PLEASE POST IN COMMENTS, TEXT MESSAGE OR CALL ME). We have welcomed a lot of them here to our campus and are trying to maintain our spirits and our comraderie. We will have a definitive location and status on all of them this week. Dorothy and I will be traveling up to Natchitoches to participate in the NSU Open House Tuesday at 7pm and any Kiwanians in the areas your attendance would be greatly appreciated in this very difficult time. We as a Kiwanis Family District have so much to overcome right now, and together we can!

Yours in Kiwanis Family Service,
Ralph Johnson
District Secretary-Treasurer

Possible Help

Hi all,

I received this touching email today:

Jenny,

Constant prayers are flowing for those millions affected by Katrina, but on a practical way most also need the basics, so here is my little offer: If any of your friends, like those mentioned on your e-mail, are willing to travel to Lake Worth, Florida, I have room in my house for up to three for as long as they are in need. I will provide housing, food, public schooling for minors, and all basic necessities. They can stay with me at my home as long as necessary without any cost or obligation. Young or old, black or white, male or female, Christian or not, this offer is open to any as long as they come with your personal recommendation. For obvious reasons I don't want a complete estranger in my house unless recommended by Kiwanis, a church or a friend.

May God bless and show compassion for all who are presently suffering because of this tragedy.
John L. Jaquet, past Club President
8563 El Paso Drive, Lake Worth, Fl 33467
Phone: work 561-394-8563
cell 561-543-1114

If anyone needs a place to stay and would like to take advantage of this offer, please email or call Mr. Jaquet or I, or reply to this post.

God Bless you all, and I hope you are doing well,
Jenny

Hurricane Katrina

Greetings all,

By now I'm sure that everyone has seen and heard of the devastation in Southern Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama from Hurricane Katrina. Due to the fact that I have no idea when I will be able to return to my house in New Orleans, I am back at home. If anyone needs me, please feel free to call me here at 252-261-1402, since New Orleans numbers obviously aren't working right now.

If you lived in the path of the rising waters and 150 mph winds as well, I'm so sorry. Nothing, in my mind, could have prepared us for this complete and total devastation. I know some of you have lost your homes, but I just pray that everyone is safe, and that you will all somehow find the strength to rebuild when the waters do eventually subside.

New Orleans has become a pathetic, toxic bowl of dirty water, destroyed homes, desperate people, and dangerous people who are sickeningly taking advantage of this crisis. It is a shell of what it once was, and who knows if that will ever be restored? For those of you who live in an area that wasn't affected by the storm, please pray for the city and it's residents, and please do anything you can to help, whether it's giving money, donating blood, donating supplies, or helping with the evacuees in your town.

Let's use this resource as a way to tell about our thoughts regarding this situation, and if you live in New Orleans, to let us know you are safe. On a more technical note, monthly reports are suspended until further notice. If you want to send it in and you are able to, great, but if not, of course that's fine, too.

Wishing you all the best in this horrible time,
Jenny

District Delegate Meeting Scheduled...

In a Special Meeting last evening, the Board decided to hold a Informational Meeting for Voting Delegates for each club attending convention. The meeting will be held August 1st at 8:30p.m. via AOL. Club Presidents are asked to please inform their delegates of the meeting and to please send us their Screen names at lmt_sec_treas@yahoo.com so that we can make sure all are in attendance. If delegates don't have an AIM SN we will be happy to help them set one up. At the meeting, we will be discussing the Proposed Amendments & Resolutions to the Circle Constitution & Bylaws and International Office Candidates. We will be joined by our Counseling Trustee Erin Rowe to answer any question you may have regarding amendments.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact Governor Jenny or I or your LTG.

Holla,
Sec-Treas RJ

P.S. Alternates should also attendee the meeting in case a last minute substitution is needed in Greensboro.

Greetings again,
The proposed amendments to the CKI Bylaws & Constitution have been published and can be found here:

http://www.circlek.org/circlek/lit/download.asp?id=338

Also, it is important that your club be represented in the House of Delegates so please make sure you fill out the Delegate Certification form found here ( http://www.circlek.org/circlek/lit/download.asp?id=265 ). The form can be mailed to Circle K International or can be given to delegates in hand to bring to convention. If your club is not sending delegates to convention you can still be represented by one of the current or immediate past District officers. If your club choses this option please contact me or Governor Jenny for instructions and paperwork we need from you. I look forward to seeing you all at convention!
