Hey Everyone!

This weekend, the District Board attended a Kiwanis Family meeting in Raymond, MS at Eagle Ridge Conference Center. It was a blast! We started the evening Friday night with a great dinner with our Key Club and Kiwanis counterparts, and watched a skit prepared by the Key Club District Board. We then had a rather long Circle K board meeting, but we got a lot accomplished. A detailed agenda with action taken will be provided to you soon. One of the most significant accomplishments was that many of the plans for our District Convention 2004 in Memphis were set in place. This will truly be one of the most memorable conventions in LaMissTenn Circle K history! Anyways, after dinner we had some free time, and had some fun. Saturday morning we woke up, ate breakfast, and had some incredible leadership activities with our K-Family counterparts. We learned how to be better leaders for all of you, and how to communicate better with our Kiwanis Family. We learned that despite our differences in age-- Kiwanis, Circle K, and Key Club really have a lot in common--- we all have the same problems, same achievements, and same never-ending desire to serve people (especially children) everywhere. There are so many great activites that we did- that we will share with you in the future at Divisional Rallies, and other District events. Finally, we said good-bye on Saturday to our newly made Kiwanis and Key Club friends.. and left for home.

I know I definitely had a blast this weekend, and I know I speak for the rest of the board when I say that we were pumped full of enthusiasm and energy. I can't wait to show you all the things we learned, the changes we've made, and the plans for the future. We evaluated our goals at our board meeting, and know what we need to work on, but overall realized that we are right on track to finishing all of the goals we set in May.

So, that's pretty much it.... the Governor's Shoutout today goes to Bich, Tasha, and Alison-- for making an incredible impression on those at the meeting this weekend. Everyone raved about what a great board I'm honored to serve on, and I'm proud to agree! Good job girls!

International Corner: will be dedicated to the International Board meeting that also took place this weekend (I was on the phone with Doug back and forth at our meeting), and I'll share the details of exactly what happened there when I get them in full.

Finally.. we have re-started talks about getting a district mascot! :) Some noted ideas so far, are a Giraffe (because they are high-reachers)... and a Bass, (or other type of fish) because the Mississippi River (and it's creatures) unite our entire district. An idea for a District Cheer? Kiss Our Bass! So.. be thinking of which animals symbolize our district ideals.... an elephant, because we always remember our traditions, friends, and service? An aardvark for our desire to be different? Think of different animals and let me know what you guys think!
